German-Exam for citizenship A2/B1
Information
The Deutsch-Test für Zuwanderer A2/B1 is the right exam for you if you need proof of your language competence when applying for German citizenship. Integration courses end with this exam. But the exam can also be taken by anyone else wishing to do so in Germany.
For young adults aged under 27, attending a youth integration course, we recommend the Deutsch-Test für Zuwanderer A2/B1 (Jugendintegrationskurs).
What language ability do you need for this exam?
At A2 level you can communicate in a simple way in typical everyday situations. In a familiar context you can hold short conversations. You can use simple grammatical structures correctly.
At B1 level you can communicate in a simple and connected way in everyday situations. You can describe experiences, hopes and ambitions and give reasons for opinions. On the whole you can use the most important grammatical structures correctly.
You are familiar with topics like dealing with the public authorities, work, shopping, health, children, media and where you live.
What is the structure of the examination?
The exam consists of a written and an oral part. The written exam lasts 100 minutes. The oral exam usually takes place straight after the written exam, without any preparation time.

German Phrase Box
